Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 does not have a Campaign – Here’s why that’s not a problem

Call of Duty Black Ops 4

I am sure most Call of Duty video games enthusiasts learned that the new Call of Duty: Black Ops will not feature the usual Campaign mode felt shortchanged. Especially those who have been following up the games from its earliest release.

Most of us don’t know how to describe Call of Duty without the single-player campaign; that has been the tradition of the title ever since it came out. For the Black Ops 4, in place of the single-player will be an assortment of solo missions all focusing on a Specialist character.

Each mission will be as bombastic as the mission in the campaign. So in a way, Black Ops 4 has no significant change from the earlier Call of Duty titles. The game’s solo missions are set between events that took place in Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3. In Black Ops 4, some new Specialists are being introduced like Crash, Recon, and Torque.

Robert Kostich, the VP, and GM of Call of Duty told GameSpot, “As we go forward… fans are going to learn a lot about the story that is embedded in this game. Look, it’s not a dedicated campaign like it was in the past. We’re telling stories differently this year. We think our community is going to love this game from end to end because it has so much to offer.

The core focus of it, I don’t think that’s going to be a problem really. I think what our community is going to love at the end of the day comes down to the gameplay and the fun you have with it. And I think that’s what this game is going to have in spades. This is a little different from what we’ve done in the past.”

Black Ops 4 also has a battle royale mode called Blackout with the Zombies looking bigger and better (read, more fun to kill). The game like previous titles also has the head-to-head multiplayer mode. The PC edition will be available on www.battle.net.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 launched for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 12th. So gamers, keep your calendars marked for that date.
