Last year, Microsoft and Amazon made a promise that they will integrate their respective digital assistants to work seamlessly with one another. Instead of having Cortana compete against Alexa, the two companies thought it best to have the two AI complement and synergize with one another.
The arrangement works out quite conveniently for you, the end user. You get Alexa to help you out with your day-to-day tasks like having her call you an Uber ride, play your favorite mixtape, and wake you up in the morning.
Then you can also have Cortana handle all your professional work, as it is well integrated with the Microsoft office suite that will help you get some work done. Now that these two ladies are talking to each other, you can tell your Echo device, “Alexa, open Cortana.” Or on your Windows 10 PC, tell Cortana, “Hey Cortana, open Alexa.”
