Fix No Sound iPhone: Guide to Fix Sound Problems in iPhone 6, iPhone 5, iPhone 4

Many iPhone users have been facing this no sound iPhone issue lately. The problem generally occurs if you have updated your iOS; but it is not the only cause and there could be more reasons to that. The good thing, however, is that it is not a major problem and can be easily fixed. Below we have offered all the possible solutions that could get you out of no sound iPhone trouble with minimum effort.

There could be two kind of issues associated with this problem: either the issue only hinders notification sounds, or the problem is general and you can hear no audio at all from your iPhone.

In case of notification sound problem, here is the solution:

Do Not Disturb Settings

The solution involves making sure that your phone is not set to ‘Do Not Disturb’ mode.

Go to Settings and Deactivate ‘Do Not Disturb’ if it is currently activated.

See if the problem persists; if yes, follow on:

Re-enabling Notifications for Messages

Go to Settings and disable Notifications for messages.

Switch off you iPhone and restart it.

Then again go to Notification Settings and enable them for messages.

Reset Network Settings

Try resetting the network settings.

Settings->General Reset->Reset Network Settings

Choose to Reset All Settings

Press and hold the POWER and HOME button at once for a while and then let the phone restart.

Try One of These Methods for Notification Sound Issue

Change the Notification Settings (of the app that is not giving notification) from Default to a specific sound/tune.

Set iMessage to receive messages from phone only, and not via email.

Turn of the microphone of the Google app, if you have it installed on your phone.

Further in Do Not Disturb, set this mode to receive calls from everyone.

Go to Settings->Notifications->Messagesàchange the alert style on locked device from Banner to Alert.

If the no sound iPhone issue is not restricted to the notifications only and you can’t hear any sound from you device, here is what to do to solve that:

Checking the Speakers for No Sound iPhone

If none of the above methods worked and you are not sure whether your phone’s speakers are working alright or not, or maybe you hear a sound but it is distorted, muffled or if you hear crackling noises, try doing the following Apple Support recommended steps:

Go to Settingsà and Turn up the ringer slider. If you can hear the sound, then it means your speaker is working and now you will have to follow on with the steps described below to fix the issue. If not, may be Apple Store is your go to location.

Make Sure your Mute/Silent button on the device is not set to ‘Silent Mode’ currently. If you Cannot see the orange on the button, you are good.

Restart you device and play any music on the phone.

In Settings->Bluetooth; turn off the Bluetooth.

If you are still facing no sound iPhone issue, plug in a headphones; if you can hear the sound in headphones, remove the jack and clean your phone’s jack of any dust or debris.

Make sure that your phone’s casing (if any) is not blocking the speaker.

Also, take a very soft bristle brush and gently clean off the speakers and the Lightning connector of your phone.
