How Do I Find Clipboard on iPhone?

by Fahad Saleem

iPhone users are unable to find the clipboard on their iPhones. While using any App such as Instagram or Facebook, the users copy something from it but they are unable to find it later on.  Below is how you can find and use the clipboard on iPhone.

There is no clipboard App or viewable clipboard on iPhones. After copying something, it gets stored onto the system’s memory for later use. iPhone’s clipboard is an inherent functionality which enables you to temporarily store data from one App and transfer it to another App, or to a different location in the same App. You can only store one copied item on the clipboard on iOS.

To make it more clear, clipboard is a virtual memory location. There is no exact physical file location in computer where you can access clipboard.

Copy and Paste

To paste what you copied, simply tap and hold in any text field. When prompted, tap on ‘Paste’ from the menu that appears and clipboard will paste what you copied onto it to that particular location. Data copied to the clipboard can be pasted over and over again until you overwrite with something else or restart your device.

Notes

There is no direct way to access your clipboard but you can try some tricks to see what is copied on the clipboard. The simplest trick is to go to the Notes App of your iPhone and open a new note. In the new note, tap and hold on the text field and press on paste. The recent content copied on the clipboard is now in the Notes App. In this way you can save your clippings of clipboard too as iOS clipboard only stores one item.

Third – Party Apps

If you want to actively manage your clipboard on your iPhone, you will have to download third – party Apps. An App you can try is Clip+ which supports affiliate links, directions and Apple Watch snippet creation. It is an amazing media-rich clipboard App which lets you copy and manage what you copied. It also auto-detects the type of media you are copying and lets you know at a glance what the snippets contain. The most useful, versatile and feature-packed App.

Delete Clipboard Data

To clear up your clipboard on iOS, simply open an App which has a text field such as Message or Notes App. Where the cursor is blinking, tap once on that empty text field. The iPhones keyboard will appear on the bottom of screen. Press the space bar two times to generate empty space in the text field. Now, hold on the top of cursor and then select copy. These blank spaces will be copied onto your clipboard which will delete the last item copied to the clipboard.

Universal Clipboard

If you are using the latest version of iOS (10 or later) on your Apple devices, universal clipboard allows you to copy and paste data from one Apple device to another Apple device. To do so, same iCloud account should be signed in to the devices between which you want to share clipboard data. Select and copy anything as usual from one device, move to the target device and paste it over there.
