Multichoice Kenya, the owner of the DStv brand, has announced price cuts for all packages. The pay-tv service has reduced the monthly charges for its bouquet by three to nine percent. This price cut comes hot on the heels of increasing competition within the local pay-tv market.

The new DStv Prices effective this Friday

Ø The Premium Bouquet has been cut by 3.42% to Ksh. 7,900

Ø Compact Plus cut by 4.15% to Ksh. 5,200

Ø DStv Compact reduced to Ksh. 3,200

Ø DStv Access reduced by 9.52% to Ksh. 950

Viewers on GOtv will get not price cuts, and their monthly subscriptions rate remains the same.

Eric Odipo, the Managing Director of Multichoice Kenya, said the price cut has been possible with the stabilization of the Kenya Shillings versus the U.S. $. Multichoice Kenya also made a 5 – 15% price cut last November.

The majority of our input costs are in US dollars, and we hope we will not experience any further currency devaluations or other unexpected increases in costs for the remainder of the year. It is also a way of rewarding our customers for their loyalty and support,” said Odipo.
