Nigerian Mobile Internet Users Now Over 80 Million

According to figures released by Nigeria Communications Commission, there has been a significant increase in the number of users using GSM mobile internet. According to the corporation’s monthly Internet Subscriber Data, in December 2014 there were 76,324,632 mobile internet users on GSM. By the end of January 2015, there were 81,892,840 mobile internet users; an increase of 5,568,208.

Nigerian Mobile Internet Users Now Over 80 Million

With most subscribers (39,173,123) being on MTN Nigeria, followed at a far distance by Globacom (17,671,405), Airtel Nigeria (14,969,924) and Etisalat (10,078,388). It also emerged that the numbers of mobile internet users on CDMA network, mainly provided by Multi-Links and Visafone had a combined subscriber base of 153,978 users by January this year. A drop from the 154,324 from the last quarter of 2014.
