South African Leg of SeedStars World Kicks Off On July 10

South African start-ups should be ready to participate in the SeedStars World (SSW) startup competition that will be taking place in their home country on the July 10th, 2014 at Cape Town.

South African Leg of SeedStars World To Take Place On July 10, In Cape Town

SSW welcomes all high quality start-ups to participate in its 10-minute pitching competition that will involve a 6-minute pitch and a 4-minute Q&A session for each startup. The startup that will emerge the overall winner will be the South African representative in the global competition.

They will also stand a chance to pitch at the global competition in Switzerland and possibly be the ‘SeedStars World Best Startup.’ All the winning participants will have a chance to meet European investors, network with other great founders and expand their business. The Final Winner of this competition will be awarded an equity investment of USD 500,000 while regional winners will walk home with other great prizes.

Startups wishing to participate in this competition must meet the following minimum qualifications:

  1. The startup must be less than two years old.
  2. Its capital funding must be less than $500,000 up to date.
  3. They must present a Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
  4. The startup must be for profit and can come from any field.

Participants will also enjoy the free media coverage at both the local and international level as well as the possibility of getting partnerships with suppliers, potential acquirers, B2B customers, peer companies. The jury member at the competition will comprise of the following:

  1. Kamal Hassan, co-Creator TURN8.
  2. Alexandre Stern, Senior Director Innovation Management Lowendalmasai.
  3. Leora Rajak, founder Enterpriseroom.
