The 9 Startups That Will Battle It Out At Seedstars World Competition in Abidjan

On Wednesday, August 12th, Seedstarts World competition will be in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire pitting nine (9) startups against each other. In a globally recognized competition geared towards discovering the revolutionary startups at their early stages in the emerging world markets.

In the year 2015, Seedstars World has increased the number of countries participating in the competition to 50, up from the 36 countries that featured in 2014. Previous winners raised as much as $20 million in addition to providing job opportunities to more than 360 people across the globe.

The 9 Startups Featuring at SeedStars World Competition 2015

Titrophone: A broadcasting service using SMS/Voice and instant messages to encourage readership of newspapers.

Zoexpertiz: Self-proclaimed number one place to discover Africa.

BaraChic: A payment platform for merchants looking to allow their customers to spread payments for products over time.

LIFI-LED Cote d’Ivore: A startup that wants to communicate in nothing but lights; economical and ecological LED lights that is or otherwise known as smart lighting.

Sabicash: This is a mobile app that promises to solve all the problems associated with petty cash handling and banking solution in the informal sectors.

Airshop: The startup allows you to preorder things you want and let you pick them up when you travel and save 20% off the normal cost.

Africa Media Group: TV and VOD services targeting African viewers with content developed by Africans.

Tounkaa.com: An online workplace dedicated to micro-services and other online jobs with payment starting from 5,900 FCFA

Planete Sports: A platform where African sport fans can view all the content on their desktop and mobile devices.

The event has been made possible through support from Google for Entrepreneur, Microsoft, Orange Technocentre Abidjan, MEST, SocialSpot and Ovillage.

The juding panel will be made up of:

Christian Roland: Co-Founder at AOS Group

Sadamoudou Kaba: Head of Department at Orange Fab Abidjan

Florent Youzan: Co-Founder at AfriWorkers.

Nnenna Nwakanma: Africa Regional Coordinator at World Wide Web Foundation
