Vodacom has deployed the M-Pawa campaign across Tanzania using traditional advertisement platform such as billboards to reach out to the masses. The billboards are strategically placed in high traffic areas, to ensure the maximum number of people come across them this coming festive season. The telecom launched its M-Pawa service in March this year, after partnering with CBA.

The M-Pawa service runs on the same technology as Safaricom’s M-Pesa in Kenya. By June this year, M-Pawa had already opened 250,000 accounts and over 50,000 customers with a total savings of Tshs. 1.2 billion ($687,500). The service allows Tanzanians to save money from as little as Tshs. 1 and can request loans according to their savings and credit history.
