WedOCracy – The Collaborative Social Wedding Planning App, That Lets Couples And Guest Plan The Wedding

Planning a wedding can be such a hectic experience, so much so that if you don’t prepare right you might reach down the aisle tired and frustrated as hell. A wedding should be an occasion of happiness, where you get to marry the person you want to spend the rest of your life with, in front of family and friends. Such words as tired and frustrated should not feature anywhere during this important moment in life.

Well, a group of techies and innovators who have undergone the hectic process of planning their own wedding have come up with an app geared towards planning a wedding be so much easier. Dubbed the WedOCracy, it is a collaborative social wedding planning, where the couples to be married alongside their guest can plan the D-Day together while having fun while at it.

Innov8tiv caught up with the Founders behind this innovative wedding planning platform and had a chit chat about matters wedding through the WedOCracy platform. Without more ado, here is our one-on-one with the developers of WedOCracy:

What was the source of inspiration for you to start WedOcracy?

Our own wedding!

We scoured the google for wedding planning apps that weren’t shopping sites and found a thing here a thing there. One site would have the wedding website, another might be an app for photos – there was nothing integrated or comprehensive.

So we built our own

Tell us more about WedOcracy and what sets it apart from other apps with similar features?

There are other apps with some of the features we offer, but there is NO app that has all the features we do. No other wedding app even has Travel planning. But the special sauce is really the social networking aspect, and how Guests are as much a part of the app experience as the couples are. We built WedOcracy from the ground up to serve both couples and guests (serving couples means we also include vendors – but the vendors are only there to serve the needs of couples).

What has been the most rewarding aspect of launching this app?

Seeing couples get excited about how much easier their planning is!

As a new startup, how do you manage the duality between driving new business and overseeing daily operations?

It is really tough, especially because we’re bootstrapping, and we do all the development. “We” meaning the two of us – we have no employees and no funding – everything you see, we did it or are doing it ourselves. It’s a catch-22 between spending time working on the business – whether it be coding or marketing – and working other gigs to bring in money to pay for it until it actually starts to bring in money. So we’re not even at that place where we can choose between driving new business and handling the day-to-day, we have to just do everything, and more, all the time.

What is the one thing that every Entrepreneur must have in his/her mind when launching a new business?

How much runway you have before you run out of cash. If you don’t have enough capital to keep you going until it takes hold, forget it.

Where do you see WedOcracy in the next 3 years?

It’s make-or-break time for us. So either we’ll be a successful company with weddings worldwide, apps in multiple platforms in multiple languages, a real staff and corporate office, or we’ll be focusing on our Web development business. Right now, honestly, it could go either way.
