It is not enough that Africa is adopting technology in its various social economic activities. While it is commendable citizens can get government services at the tap on their smartphone. Talk to family and friends in far off place like they are right next to them (global village). Take classes and do businesses online.

Africa now needs to move away from just being a consumer of tech solutions to becoming a creator of those solutions. Then, and only then will the continent have tech-driven solutions tailor-made to their needs; and not this one-size-fits-all approach with an imported tech solution.

The first step towards self-sufficiency as a continent and possible exporter of tech solutions start with arming today’s kids with the crucial 21st-century tools; digital literacy. And coding is the very fabric of tech solutions production.

9jacodekids Academy is on that frontline towards that goal in Nigeria. They strongly believe that coding should be a basic skill in today’s African school curriculum. The Academy believes kids should start learning to code at the earliest age possible. Since at those tender age, learning comes naturally to them as compared to aging adults.

Code is perhaps the most widely used language around the world. Wherever and whenever a digital is being used, that is code. 9jacodekids Academy is a STEM education institute aiming at providing coding and robotics lessons to kids in Nigeria between the ages of 4 to 16 years.

We believe it is not enough to learn how to code. Our students should be able to use their coding skills to innovate and create value,” writes the Academy on their website. “Our model is based on a three-pronged approach of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship.”
