About the new Acer Predator X27 – the first NVIDIA G-Sync HDR Monitor

NVIDIA G-Sync HDR gaming monitors promise unrivaled gaming, with great specs including the 1,000 nits of peak brightness, iris-searing, wide color gamut, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. These specs will go a long way in helping you see the ‘bad guys that you will be wasting away.’

However, most NVIDIA G-Sync HDR monitors from OEMs like ASUS and Acer have been delayed several times. So gamers around the world have no idea what the new display technology will look like; or if they will live up to the promise.

Well, Acer just launched the Predator X27 and is now available for pre-orders at Newegg [link]. Guess what, the PC monitor is available at a mind-blowing $1,999. That’s the price of a high-end laptop or even a complete high-end (complete) desktop PC. But this one is just a monitor, at such a price!

The Acer Predator X27 has the AU Optronics IPS panel with Quantum Dot technology, which offers 384 LED backlighting zones. It has 4K (3,840 x 2,160) resolution, a typical 600 nits brightness that peaks at 1,000 nits, and a 144 Hz refresh rate. It also comes with the 10-bit support and support for wide DCI-P3 color gamut giving you the best possible color accuracy and a (very rapid) response time of under 4-millisecond. These specs are simply too humongous even for the typical power users on PCs.

No doubt, these are the best PC monitor specs currently in the market, but most people will find it hard to part with $1,999 for just a monitor. Especially when you can get alternatives like the Dell UltraSharp 27 4K monitor, which also comes with 1,000 nit brightness (at peak), and for only $1,480.

Acer justifies the high price for the Predator X27, due to the proprietary NVIDIA module. The module on its own adds at least $100 to the price.
