Facebook’s Instagram on February 8th made the announcement that it is going to support accounts switching where users can stay logged in on five different accounts simultaneously. The changes will be updated in the next version of the mobile app, version 7.15 on both iOS and Android platform.
In a blog post, Instagram wrote, “Go to your profile settings to add an additional account. From there, tap your username at the top of your profile to switch between accounts. Once you have multiple accounts added, you’ll see your profile photo appear in places throughout the app so you can always tell which one you’re using at the moment.”
Facebook has had this feature available on the mobile app for years now, and it until quite recently that Instagram confirmed that it is conducting dry runs on the feature.
Instagram increasingly becomes the go-to platform for marketers in many industries. Hence, it makes much sense for it to have the account switching option, given many marketers probably run multiple Instagram accounts.
“If you’ve added multiple Instagram accounts, you may get push notifications from any account that has them turned on. This depends on when you last logged in and the number of devices that are logged in to an account.”
