How to Activate, Install and Use Siri in macOS Sierra

Apple has launched macOS Sierra beta for the Mac users and this operating system is packed with new features. Apple has brought a lot of innovation and creativity on the table. You have new apps, productivity features like global copy-paste and in-picture options. But perhaps the best feature to dwarf all others is the introduction of Apple’s virtual assistant Siri. Millions of Mac users had been waiting to use Siri on Mac in order to do daily tasks quickly and without any effort. Siri is the trademark virtual assistant system for Apple’s iPhone, but thankfully, it is now rolling out on Mac OS platform as well. A lot of users have asked how to use Siri in macOS Sierra. Let us find out the answer to this query.

Activate, Install, Use Siri on macOS Sierra

If you are in the process of installing macOS Sierra, the system gives you an option to approve the installation of Siri. You can use that to automatically install it. Siri comes packed in the latest Mac OS. So you just have to activate it.

You can launch Siri using the dock icon, or by going to the menu bar using the menu button or the keyboard command.

You can also pin results shown by Siri in the individual windows to the “Today” section of the notification center. You can also add these Siri results in documents and other files.

After activating Siri in macOS Sierra, you can start giving it voice commands just like it all works in iPhones. So you can just say “open Google” or “Open file I used today” and other commands according to your own choice. Siri will be happy to comply.

You can also tweak settings of Siri to accommodate any changes you want to make regarding how it works. For example, you can change voice over settings, voice type and country accent selection and more.

Some users have reported that Siri is slow on macOS Sierra. It is not difficult to understand why. The primary reason for this is the fact that Siri takes time in acclimatizing itself with the accent. Secondly, Apple is still in the process of updating and revamping its virtual assistant for Mac.
