Africa-America Institute Kicks off It’s #GivingTuesday Fundraiser

The Africa-American Institute (AAI) is the premier U.S. based international education and policy organization working to advance higher education and professional development training for Africans. Now running for more than 60 years, AAI has been fostering African talent development and building human capacity across the continent.

Research shows that there is an urgent shortage of skilled healthcare worker in most parts of Africa. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed now, rather than later; AAI is deeply committed to achieving just that.

Stats You Should Know:

Despite the serious health care disparities between Africa and the rest of the world, only three percent of the world’s health workers are in Africa. It is estimated that about 1.5 million healthcare professionals are needed in Africa, by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Liberia has become quite common in the global health watchdog’s radar following the worst outbreak of the Ebola virus. Concerted measures have to be put in place to help Liberia through partnerships with government bodies, universities and philanthropists.

The grim reality is that the African healthcare system is crippled with complex problems. It is also true, that many African countries like Liberia have an insufficient number of professional medical staff and adequately trained healthcare workers.

How To Be Part Of The Solution:

AAI currently is running an awareness and funds campaign aimed at increasing the number of professionally-trained healthcare workers in Liberia. Research has proved that skills training and preparedness goes a long way in combating pandemics and public health challenges. You can chip your contribution in the form of creating awareness or contributing funds.
