African Women in Technology 2020 | #AWITUG2020

Working towards achieving an impact-driven society, the need to bridge the gender gap and create solutions for the underrepresentation of women in tech spaces birthed the African Women in Technology, a biannual conference bringing together African women from different backgrounds to productively network, get an insight on current tech innovations and benefit from available opportunities in tech spaces.

Understanding what technology can do and how it can drive innovation, the need for leveraging technologies in today’s world has given rise to the need for upskilling women to empower them for more productivity in their businesses, careers and everyday lives.

Commencing with the Technical Entrepreneurs Training Program on the 30th of January to the 5th of February, 2020, at Andela, Uganda, the African Women in Technology Conference (AWITUG) 2020 has a lineup of insightful interactive sessions. The Entrepreneurs Mockboard and Investors Roundtable at the Innovation Village will raise conversations around investment systems on the continent and challenges/opportunities for female entrepreneurs in Africa.

A roundtable on Effective Team Management at the Kampala International University on the 6th of February will address soft skills necessary for administrative growth. Other programs will include sessions on Health Tech and Innovation, Nano Technology, The Moral Code: Ethics and Technology, Your Business and mobile Payment Systems, Cyber Security, Social Impact and Education, Voice Technology, Analytics, The Future of Robotics/IoT, Strategic Marketing and Personal Branding.

It is one thing to acquire skills, and it is another to find ways to professionally utilize them. To this end, we also present AWIT Creatives, a platform where creative African women can meet, hire and offer their individual services on a global scale. We aim for all-inclusive development and creating these relevant platforms has become a necessity for us all.
