Any Google+ User Can Now Email You Without Your Address! Here’s A Solution
In another recent attempt to entrap Gmail users in the “circles” of Google+, the colossal giant launched an update which allows anyone from anywhere to send an email straight into your Gmail inbox even if he/she is not in your Google+ circles. Weird, isn’t it? The latest update is another attempt to mesh the Google+ popularity into the spiraling social media frenzy that’s happening around the web.
Billions of Gmail users were rattled hearing this announcement from Google because, privacy is the most important thing they consider while surfing the web and using email services. In addition, emails are already being bombarded with spammers and potential hackers. This new privacy issue is making things worst with the visibility of your email address and many other profile attributes that people not in your Google+ circles would be privy to.
While we heard screams and outrage on this recent announcement, we also received a work around from Google which allows you to opt of this new stalker feature. All you have to do is follow the easy steps given below and you’ll be able to stop “anyone from anywhere” from just flooding your inbox with ugly spams or unwarranted attention/harassment.
1. Go to you Gmail Inbox, and you will see a gear like icon on the right side. Click it
2. Now Click Settings
3. You will land the ‘General Settings’ tab. Scroll down and you will see a section saying “Email via Google+”. There will a drop down list. Its set with a value “Anyone” for now and that’s the problem.
4. Drop the list down and select “No one”
5. Scroll down and click “Save Changes”
That’s all there is to it. We have saved you from the ugly update getting in action and making your inbox creepy with the emails from the unknown.
