Applications For Innovation Prize For Africa (IPA) 2016 Competition Are Now Open

If you believe you are Africa’s next big thing, with groundbreaking ideas, edgy innovation, a product that best sells the ‘Made in Africa’ brand and would like to take your idea or product to the next growth level in Africa. Then you need to apply for the Innovation Prize for Africa (IPA) 2016 competition; the application window is currently open.

The IPA competition is an initiative of the African Innovation Foundation (AIF) looking to give promising African startups up to $150,000 seed funding for products that provide market-oriented solutions within the African ecosystem.

AIF uses IPA to recognize and encourage the endeavors of entrepreneurs and innovators in Africa. AIF also raises the profiles of these promising startups to the development agendas. In addition to the overall winner walking away with $150,000 funding, all the nominated startups in the competition will also be given $5,000 to develop their products further.

IPA 2016 marks bold new steps towards mobilizing all innovation enablers to join hands and ensure that African innovations make it to the markets.

About IPA

Innovation Prize for Africa was established back in 2011 by the African Innovation Foundation. Successful IPA edition have so far been held in Addis Ababa (2012), Cape Town (2013), Abuja (2014) and for this year’s event took place in Skhirat, Morocco.

The 2016 IPA edition dubbed, “Made in Africa” has been merged with AIF’s mission of catalyzing the spirit of innovation in Africa and living up to its motto: by Africans, for Africans. IPA has grown to become the most celebrated innovation event in the current African calendar. The event attracts the best African ingenuity from various fields including science, technology, the environment, energy, agri-business, manufacturing and service industry, health and well-being and ICT.

IPA 2016 is accepting applications from all the 54 countries across Africa and seeking to have the largest representation being women and young women.
