Appy Saúde, the Angolan e-health based startup raises fund to expand into Rwanda and South Africa

Appy Saúde

Appy Saúde is a mobile app and web portal that strives to provide useful health information to users in Angola. Launched in 2017, the e-health platform contains up-to-date information on matters hospitals, doctors, and pharmacies. Users can also make appointments and order their medication supply from the platform.

In Angola, Appy Saúde is the biggest health platform in the country with over 2,000 listed establishments. It secured its seed funding two years ago and has managed to raise another $1 million in another funding round, which it will use to expand further across the African market.

The startup was one of the ten startups that made it to the Africa Startup Summit competition in Kigali held earlier this year. The proceeds from its second funding round will go towards expanding Appy Saúde into new markets in South Africa, Rwanda, DR Congo, and Namibia.

Our biggest focus is on Rwanda and South Africa, for now. We are in advanced talks with a partner to enter Rwanda market. The time to market is excellent, as both Angola and Rwanda are improving policies for partnerships,” said Pedro Beirao, the CEO of Appy Saúde.

Beirao further revealed that the startup is currently in advanced stages of discussions with potential investors, though no concrete deal is yet to be reached.
