Best Shows on Netflix for Families

by Fahad Saleem

While scrolling through the Netflix’s children and family section, that’s a sea of suspicious bright colors and flashing lights, you probably start wondering which shows are best and worth-watching. In this article, we mention some of the great Netflix shows that are suitable for families.

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man being one of the smallest heroes in the MCU but not the weakest one, has subsequently appeared in Captain America: Civil War. In the sequel, Scott Lang has to find out the secrets from his past with a new sidekick. This sequel is even more fun than its predecessor. Rated PG-13, this sequel is fun with shrinking and super-sizing tricks that Dr. Hank Pym brings to the film.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

It’s one of the best shows on Netflix that parents can feel comfortable with showing their kids the origin story of Han Solo. Han Solo finds adventure after joining forces with a gang of galactic smugglers and a 190-year old Chewbacca. Kids will love the friendship between Han and Chewbacca.

One day at a time

This is the Netflix original comedy drama which is inspired by Norman Lear’s 1975 series of the same name. A newly single Latina mother raises her teen daughter and tween son with the help of her old-school man. The series follows the life of Penelope, a newly single Army veteran, and her Cuban-American family member, as they navigate the ups and downs of life. This series offers a contemporary take on what life looks like in all times – good or bad and how it can be made worthwhile by our loved ones.

Arrested Development

In this series, Michael Bluth finds himself forced to stay in Orange Country and runs the family real estate business after his father, George Bluth Sr., is imprisoned after committing white-collar crime. Dysfunctional family makes his job unbearable.

Casper

It’s a 1995 live-action / animation hybrid movie that is based on friendly ghost cartoon character, Casper. The movie finds the ghost longing for a friend and working to summon a paranormal therapist, Bill and his daughter, Christina to old mansion that he and his uncles haunt. The show is the right mix of sweet and silly that spoke very strongly to kids in the 90s, and it holds up just as well for kids.

Daddy Day Care

This show on Netflix is far more funnier than you think. It’s a great watch with children. Eddie Murphy and Jeff Garlin, as a pair of dads, have a dynamite comedic chemistry who not only find themselves laid off, but also unable to enroll their children into day care. So, they begin a care themselves. This is ultimately a warm, silly, better-than-it-needs-to-be family comedy.
