#BlackGirlsRock was founded by Beverly Bond in 2006, in order to empower young African American 
women. The organization name is also the name of a BET awards show called “Black Girls Rock!” It celebrates and awards black women who have dedicated their lives to creating change and inspiring girls all over the world.
The awards show aired over the weekend, and blew up social media. The show drew in over 2.7 million viewers.
