Boss Move: Twitter CEO Adds Disney Board Member to Resume

Media and entertainment company, Walt Disney, has announced that technology heavyweight, Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter and CEO of Square, is the latest addition to their high-caliber board of directors.  This announcement appears to fall in line with Disney’s appointments in recent years, which has included Apple’s Steve Jobs, BlackBerry’s John Chen and Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg.

According to the official statement by Disney’s CEO and chairman Robert Iger “Jack Dorsey is a talented entrepreneur who has helped create groundbreaking new businesses in the social media and commerce spaces. “The perspective he brings to Disney and its Board is extremely valuable, given our strategic priorities, which include utilizing the latest technologies and platforms to reach more people and to enhance the relationship we have with our customers.”

What will be interesting to see, and really what will set this nomination apart, is how well Dorsey’s background in the tech industry will help Disney continue to shore up its tech offerings and current footprint in the animation and gaming industry via outfits such as Pixar, Tapulous  and Playdom.

Following Disney’s announcement of his nomination, Dorsey sent a tweet with a Mickey Mouse illustration alongside a Walt Disney quote to tout the appointment.   See above image of the tweet for more information.   Read more about the official announcement here.
