#BringBackOurGirls – One Girl Found, 218 more to go!

One girl from a group of girls kidnapped by the Islamist militia in Nigeria, Boko Haram has been found. Amina Ali Nkeki as the girls is called, was found carrying a baby by a vigilante group affiliated to the Nigerian army inside the huge Sambisa Forest located close to the country’s border with Cameroon.

It is said the girl was found in the company of a suspected Boko Haram Islamist group member. There are

now 218 girls kidnapped from the Chibok that remain unaccounted for, following their abduction in April, 2014. An abduction that saw world leaders and people from around the globe take to social media to show their contempt of the heinous act being carried out by the terrorist militia.

Amina now 19 was found carrying a baby and it is reported she was recognized by a civilian from the vigilante

group, Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF). She was briefly reunited with her mother. The man found in Amina’s company and suspected member of the Boko Haram, Mohammed Hayatu claimed to be the girl’s husband.

Hayatu was arrested and taken to a regional capital Maiduguri alongside Amina and the baby who were taken for medical checkup.

The leader of the JTF vigilante group is quoted by BBC saying, “The moment this girl was discovered by our vigilantes, she was brought to my house. I instantly recognized her, and insisted we should take her to her parents.

When we arrived at the house… I asked the mother to come and identify someone. The moment she saw her, she shouted her name: ‘Amina, Amina!’ She gave her the biggest hug ever, as if they were going to roll on the ground, we had to stabilize them.”

It is said the mother soon called out to the relations to come and see their lost and now found daughter. It is reported

Amina began comforting her mother, saying, “Please Mum, take it easy, relax. I never thought I would ever see you again, wipe your tears. God has made it possible for us to see each other again.”

JTF had to make Amina’s family understand that they cannot yet have her back; she must first be taken to the authority.
