C. Moore Media International Public Relations Partners with TechCabal for Second Edition of The Future is Female Mentorship Program

by Claudine Moore

C. Moore Media, International Public Relations (CMM), a New York-headquartered PR agency focusing on the US, UK, and African markets, announces a partnership with TechCabal and The Future is Female Mentorship Program. TechCabal is one of Africa’s leading tech publications chronicling innovation and technology developments across Africa, and The Future is Female Mentorship Program is the first PR and Communications program dedicated exclusively to African female tech founders.

As part of the partnership, TechCabal’s Managing Editor, Koromone Koroye, will lead a one-hour masterclass providing the 25 selected finalists of the Program’s second edition with insights into working with tech media and understanding how to position their startups to gain the attention of the tech press. The masterclass will support the customized sessions led by CMM, which will provide insights into PR and communications fundamentals for early-stage tech startups, including creating a communications plan, corporate storytelling media relations, and more.

The inaugural edition of the Program was launched on Africa Day in 2020 when businesses worldwide were reeling from the effects of the global pandemic and CMM wanted to support the most vulnerable businesses, at this time. This led CMM to launch this initiative for early-stage startups led by African female tech founders.  The Program is complimentary to ensure no barrier to entry for any African female founder who wants to apply. The initiative received incredible feedback from the African tech ecosystem. Just under 140 applications were received from 18 African countries, with 12 finalists selected to participate in the three-month program.

In 2021 CMM expanded the Program with Twenty-five African female-founded tech startups recently selected for the Program’s second edition from 180 applications received from 26 different African countries – a 30% increase in the applications received in 2020. The 25 finalists were selected from Nigeria, South Africa, Rwanda, Kenya, Guinea, Uganda, Senegal, Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Cameroon, Egypt, and Eswatini.

What the Program offers

CMM’s MD & Founder, Claudine Moore, alongside AfricaCommsWeek’s founders and TechCabal Editors, will lead group masterclass sessions for the selected mentees and participate in Q and A sessions. TechCabal will provide insights into the African tech ecosystem and nuances of being an African female tech founder. In addition, the Program will also provide the 25 selected mentees with insights customized for the unique needs of their business and sector led by CMM mentors.

Pan-African and Global Recognition

The Future is Female Mentorship Program continues to gain global recognition, with Forbes Magazine exclusively announcing the 25 selected female founders. Also, the Program has received positive feedback from the African tech scene, with African tech media such Disrupt Africa, TechCabal, PC Tech magazine, Tech in Africa, covering the Program and the selected mentees.  In addition, the global PR industry also recognized the Program, as the initiative is the first PR and communications mentorship program dedicated exclusively to African tech female founders.

African female tech founders are underserved and often overlooked in the distribution of investments, resources, and support. CMM is leveraging their Pan-African and global expertise in PR and communications to help support them in their entrepreneurial journey, creating more visibility for the selected mentees and their startups.
