Condoleezza Rice Makes a Major Move By Joining Dropbox Board of Directors
Dropbox is one of the leading file hosting service providers that enable users to keep cloud storage, file synchronization and client software by creating a special folder on their computers and Dropbox enables them to synchronize all the files in that folder across all computers and smartphones they own. Basically it provides Cloud based storage and services.
Dropbox currently boasts of more than 275 million users and its aiming at becoming a global brand, not just in the USA. Dropbox, Inc management added Condoleezza Rice to its Board of Directors, and she is expected to help the firm in matters related to privacy and international expansion. Though you may want to know that this is not the first time Rice is dealing with Dropbox, Inc. Rice has been in close contact with Dropbox, Inc management for at least since last year through her consulting firm called, RiceHadleyGates.
Experts say that this move by Dropbox, could be beneficial in terms of creating a good working relationship with foreign governments such as China which has already blocked the use of Dropbox within China. Having experienced persons on board could help iron out issues of conflict especially when considering cultural difference between nations.
However there is a big number of stakeholders and internet users who are completely opposed to Rice appointment into Dropbox. They are currently running online petition and Twitter updates to lobby enough support to get Dropbox to reverse its move on hiring Rice. This is largely driven by the recent allegation that the US Government has been allegedly been spying on people without following the due legal channels. This is something many believe Rice was aware or possibly involved in while she had roles in the US Government.
Dropbox made a few other headlines apart from Rice appointments into its Board of Directors, others were the launch of the Carousel, new services that will offers special Dropbox for Business and finally the launched the Mailbox for Android.
