Online electronic learning or eLearning as it is popularly known is increasingly becoming the go-to platform for people with busy schedules that would like to advance their education but don’t have the time. The convenience that comes getting on your laptop and logging into your University and catch up with your lecture lessons is unrivaled.

Especially, when compared to the alternative; beating traffic, getting into a classroom full of other students and forcing you to seat behind from the board. Things could be worse if you have an eye problem or the lecture environment is noisy.

However, thanks to eLearning, you can now catch up with your lessons during your lunch break at work, on your way to and from work, and at night in the comfort of your home. This innovation for learning is also catching on within universities in Kenya. The Kenyatta University was a pioneer in this mode of learning, and now Daystar University too has followed suit.

Dubbed Daystar Mobile, this app contains all relevant course work materials for the students; video tutorials and reading materials among other interactive exercises. The app also enables students to interact with one another; something that goes a long way in understanding those difficult topics. They can also interact with faculty administration who also oversee their work.

At the end of the semesters, the students taking eLearning courses via the Daystar Mobile will have to undergo a rigorous examination. Students will, however, be required physically to attend the examinations at secure learning centers.

About Daystar Mobile

Daystar Mobile was made possible through a partnership between the Daystar University and OneUni; a Silicon Valley-based EdTech startup. To view how the app works, go to mobil.Daystar.ac.ke.Daystar Mobile the new eLearning Platform from Daystar University on Mobile Devices

Dr. Timothy Wachira, the Vice Chancellor for Daystar University, added, “With the introduction of Daystar Mobile, we will significantly improve access to quality higher education in Kenya and throughout Africa. We see every day, qualified and deserving students who are not able to access higher education, and Daystar Mobile will help us address this issue.”
