DEMO 2014 Gets Support From Critical Quarters

DEMO 2014 Gets Support From Critical Quarters

DEMO Africa has continued to receive support from hubs, incubators and tech media across Africa. This comes in the wake of the ongoing applications as expectations by start-ups to make it to the best forty short list rise by the minute. The various partners have come together to encourage participation by start-ups from across Africa.

Welcoming the support, the DEMO Africa executive producer, Harry Hare

said that the success of DEMO mainly lies on the goodwill of various partners.” It’s our collective responsibility to take Africa to the next level” he said.

The latest to join the bandwagon of supporters with a growing presence in West Africa and with Africans in the Diaspora is Innov8tiv Magazine. The Innov8tiv CEO, Anie Akpe

, was positive that the partnership would yield better results in terms of participation in this year’s event.

Last year, DEMO Africa attracted more than 600 applications from across Africa. Only forty of these were picked to launch on the DEMO stage. Harry has confirmed that some of these are already in the very final stage of closing funding deals with various investors.

DEMO 2014 is scheduled to take place at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria in September, 22nd-26th 2014. This is the first time the event is being held outside Nairobi since its inauguration in 2012.

This year will present yet another chance for the best technology startups in Africa to be recognized and exposed to the world. Applications for start-ups who are ready to launch are ongoing on http://demoafrica2014.com

.This window will remain open to accept submissions up to June 15th. The applications will be subjected to a panel of judges comprising  key players in the ICT sector in July, 2014 who are expected to settle on the best forty based on their ability to link creativity, innovation and effectiveness. The teams with the most compelling products and business models will then be given a chance to launch their products to an ecosystem of investors, IT buyers and the global IT press.
