The pan Africa event, DEMO Africa, has finally kicked off with industry players from the tech, business and government communities praising the opening up of various sectors across Africa through the adoption of youth engineered technology.
The opening has been officiated by Dr Tunji Olaopa, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communication Technology, Dr (Mrs) Omobola Johnson, Former Minister of Communication Technology, Federal Government of Nigeria and Mr Peter Jack the Director General, National Information Technology Development Agency( NITDA) .
15 start-ups are expected to pitch today including: Zeepay, InsureAfrika, Simbapay, IPC productivity, Talking Bookz, Koomzo, Mavis Computel, My Toddler, Flippy Campus, LocName, Ogavenue and Carparts,
The DEMO Africa event was preceded by an African Business Angels (ABAN) Network summit which brought together investors from Europe, America, East and West Africa to discuss the future of angel investing in Africa.
This year, DEMO Africa introduces knowledge streams to delve into critical topics including Business Modelling, Scaling Businesses, Creating an unfair advantage, and Raising Capital. Top industry players including Jorn Lyseggen-MEST Founder, Harry Tomi Davies-ABAN President, Folabi Esan-Partner, Adlevo Capital, Jason Njoku-IROKO TV CEO among others will lead the discussion.
The event is co-hosted by DEMO Africa, Nigerian Ministry of Communication Technology and National Information Technology Agency-Nigeria in collaboration with LIONS@FRICA partnership and VC4Africa.
