DEMO Africa Announces New Launch Categories for the 2014 Event in Nigeria

The DEMO Africa organizing secretariat has released new categories for this year’s applications. The new categories are more inclusive and are aimed at providing a wider and a level playing field for start-ups across Africa.

They include:

  • Agriculture
  • Health
  • Education
  • Manufacturing
  • Retail
  • Media and Entertainment
  • Communication
  • Transport and Logistics
  • Energy
  • Finance and Banking
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Waste Management and Recycling

Harry Hare, the executive producer for DEMO Africa says that the new categories are more reflective of the needs in Africa. He expressed optimism that Africa gaps will be better filled within the new fields.

Submissions to launch on the DEMO stage are currently ongoing through http://demoafrica2014.com  the application window closes on 15th June 2014. As done in previous years, the application process is run in collaboration with the VC4Africa community platform.

Over the past few weeks, as more applicants submit their projects, the DEMO secretariat has confirmed to have engaged in key collaborations that will see this year’s event achieve even greater results. Notably, critical media persons continue to pledge their support for the upcoming event.

The DEMO Africa event will be happening in Lagos between 22nd – 26th September 2014. Here, the best forty start-ups will have a chance to launch their products to an ecosystem of VCs, investors, tech acquisition specialists, IT buyers and media from across the region and around the globe.
