Ethiopia Get Ready! CODERS4AFRICA is Hosting a Sold Out Coding & Tech Conference in Addis Ababa
Within one week of announcing the first Coding and Tech Conference of the year, the event was sold out. CODERS4AFRICA kicks off 2014 with a forum focusing on software application developers, “Technopreneurs”, start-ups and computer science students in Ethiopia. The conference will be held at the Global Hotel in Addis Ababa, March 1-2.
The Forum is organized by CODERS4AFRICA with support from Packard Foundation, [email protected] and AfriCoderDojo (under the auspices of the US State Department global partnership initiative). Ethiopia is now the world’s 4th fastest and Africa’s fastest growing economy with a population of 75 million people.
The conference seeks to help tech enthusiasts harness the strategic use of ICT to accelerate the transformation of businesses, education and training systems by providing the knowledge and skills needed for Ethiopia’s sustainable development. The aim is to bring together the brightest software developers and software companies that are focused on breakthrough technologies and alleviating issues facing their local communities. During the event, Coders4Africa will also be actively searching for candidates who will execute/promote activities such as our signature Practical Project Based Training (PPBT) that is slated to begin in Q2 of 2014.
The overall goal of the CODERS4AFRICA program is to bridge the gap between African developers across the continent by sparking collaborations between the sub-regions. The objectives of the conference are to:
- Foster a strong community of Ethiopian software developers that share and transfer knowledge among themselves and to future generation of programmers
- Identify individuals that will lead the future CODERS4AFRICA Ethiopian Chapter
- Showcase the capacity and capability of Ethiopian Software developers and startups on a global scene by exposing them to potential opportunities for outsourcing and/or business deals
The forum is divided into 2 days starting with Developers Day on March 1st and “Technopreneur” & Startup Day on March 2nd. For more information on the conference, including the agenda and objectives visit us at CODERS4AFRICA .
Keynote Speakers include CODERS4AFRICA co-founders and Team members, Packard Foundation representatives, sponsor representatives and local IT shops and startups. Journalists and social media strategist interested in covering the event should send an email to [email protected]
