Five Accessories That Make Working in the Garage Easier

by Innov8tiv.com

The garage is the perfect place to work on home improvement projects or passion projects. No garage is complete without the right power tools, but just because you have a circular saw and a power drill doesn’t mean you’ll enjoy the time you spend in the garage.

There are some great accessories out there that will make the time you spend in the garage a lot easier, more comfortable, and fun.

Toggle Clamps

If you have a workshop in the garage, chances are, you have plenty of clamps to go around, but do you have any toggle clamps?

This kind of clamp is used by professionals who are welding or injection molding, but they can be extremely helpful for homeowners too. Instead of trying to slide traditional clamps on and off the table, toggle clamps can be secured to the table and used over and over again. Not only does this make it a lot easier to keep wood secure while cutting, but because they are secured so tightly, you never have to worry about them sliding around either. That’s the often the norm if you’re using traditional clamps.

Tool Organizer and Charging Station

It doesn’t matter what kind of tools you have if you can’t ever find them when you need them! Organization is important in the garage, and the more tools you have, the more organized you should be.

A few different kinds of organizers you should consider include:

  • Bags and containers that can be carried by hand
  • Stationary drawers
  • Roll around tool boxes
  • Truck-mounted organizers
  • Wall-mounted organizers

No garage is complete without power drills, and if you are serious about building and fixing, you probably have more than one. There’s no denying the convenience of cordless drills, but there’s also nothing more frustrating than having a tool boxfull of dead drill batteries!

Do yourself a favor and set up an area next to the outlet where you can organize power tool batteries. If there’s a quick and convenient place to plug them in, you’re more likely to do it so they are charged and ready to go the next time you need them.

Remote Controlled Storage Lift

There are tons of ways to organize your garage, some of which we talked about in the last section. However, this item deserves its own mention because it can make life in your garage so much easier.

A remote-controlled storage lift enables you to utilize the area near the ceiling of your garage for storing items. Unlike bike racks and traditional shelves, you don’t have to fight to get items down from the ceiling if you use a storage lift. Simply place your items on the platform, and with your remote control, raise them up above your head. When you want to retrieve your items, push the button and your items are lowered to the floor. There is no need for a ladder!

Floor Mat

How does your garage floor look? If you do a lot of work in the garage, the floor can get dirty fast. If you park your cars in the garage when you aren’t working, your floor can get even dirtier.

Scrubbing concrete can be a nightmare. That doesn’t mean you have to deal with a dirty, gross garage floor either! Consider getting a floor mat to keep things clean.

The best thing about a floor mat is that it can easily be removed. Simply pull it out of the garage and rinse it off in the driveway when it needs to be cleaned.

If you have the money and like the way it looks, you may want to consider installing a concrete coating. Not only is it more stylish than concrete, it’s much easier to clean!

Motorized Garage Door With a Screen

You already know how much easier life is with a motorized garage door. If you don’t have one, it’s definitely worth the cost, but you may not know about garage door screens.

If you spend a lot of time working in the garage and regularly keep the doors open, a screen can keep the bugs and mosquitoes out. It also provides a barrier for small children and animals. That way, your dog doesn’t take off and your child’s ball can’t roll into the street.

Working in the garage should be fun! If you find yourself frustrated more often than not, consider adding some of these accessories to your garage and you’ll start looking forward to your next home repair.
