But a number of Android users- especially Samsung Galaxy users-have reported an error whenever they want to switch back to swipe or change their existing screen lock. Fix Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage

The most important step you need to remember to change the lock screen in your Android phone is that you can change the method of the existing lock of your device only if you know the password, pattern or PIN which is being used on the device. So if you are using PIN and want to go back to Swipe, you will have to know the PIN because the device will ask it before granting the change.

In order to change the screen lock method, go to settings > security > screen security. Here you will see different options to choose from PIN, wipe, password, VPN.

Note: In the latest Android devices (Android Lollipop), this option will come by going to Settings-> Lockscreen.

If you are trying to change the lock screen method, but see the other options grayed out and the error message Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage, follow these steps.

Go to Settings in your phone.

Tap “Security”.

Scroll down and you will see an area tab “Encryption”. If your device is encrypted, it will ask you PIN code again and again. You can decrypt the device from here and it will fix Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage.

You can also fix Disabled by administrator, encryption policy or credential storage by going to “Device Administrators” section. It is in the same place (Settings->Security). Tap “Device Administrators” and uncheck any box you see.
