We right click daily on our computer probably thousands of times. What if this right click starts lagging? It will make our life hell, right? Well, that is happening to thousands of Windows users around the world, to be specific, Windows 8.1 users. Some Windows 7 and Windows 10 users have also reported slow right click issue. The problem starts when one fine day the right click option starts taking a lot of times. When you right click in Windows 8.1 or Windows 10, it takes around some seconds for the menu to show up. Fix Slow Right Click in Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows 10
In your Windows PC or laptop, just open the “Run” text box. You can open run in a variety of ways. You can type “Run” in the search box, or right click on the start button as shown in the image below and hit the option “Run”.
When you see the run text box, just type the following command and click OK or hit Enter from your keyboard.
As soon as you hit Enter, you will see a system configuration Windows with all sorts of options and tab. From all the tabs, just click the “Services” tab as shown in the image.
In the services screen, just scroll down until you find the two options named “Nvidia display driver service” and “Nvidia Update Service Daemon”. You have to uncheck the box for these two options. Unchecking them would disable these services. Just uncheck the boxes for these two Nvidia services and click on “OK”.
After doing the above step, restart your computer.
You will notice that this would fix slow right click Windows 8.1 problem. Those two Nvidia services were the real culprits behind the slow right click problem in Windows.
Using a Software
If the above mentioned thing doesn’t work for you, you can also fix the slow right click problem in Windows by disabling the shell commands and services. Apart from the Nvidia services, there are many other shell command and services which could slow down the right click. Why? Because they register themselves in the context menu. So when you right click, they force the system to make them show up in the menu. This slows down things.
Launch the software and it will show you the services. You can identify the shell commands and services using the columns “Microsoft” and “Type”. When there is a “No” under the Microsoft command, it means that this specific service is not from Microsoft.
You can right click on the each service ShellExView and click “Disable Selected Items” for disable the non-Microsoft commands. After disabling each service, check the right click and see if it is working fine.
Keep going down the list by disabling the services and you will get to the real culprit. Most of the times the problem is because of “PowerArchiver Shell Extensions because when you disable it, the slow right click Windows 8.1 problems gets fixed.
