Fix Third Monitor in Windows 10 Not Detected: Run Three Monitors Easily [Guide]

A lot of users want to run three monitors in Windows 10 for entertainment, gaming and work purposes. But there seem to be many hiccups in this process. In this article we will try to fix all the issues related to running three monitors in Windows 10.

Run 3 Monitors in Windows 10: Fix Third Monitor not Detected

1- Go to the Control Panel in Windows 10 and then go to Display. Now go to “Change Display Settings”. You will see all three screens here. But many users will see one of them as disconnected. Now click on the screen that is disconnected or dark and choose “extend desktop to this display” option. You will be able to run three monitors on Windows 10 using this way.

2- The best way to use 3 monitors in Windows 10 is to check your drivers and get all the updates for them installed. You should check the website of your PC vendor and check for driver updates.

3- If you are using GeForce graphics card and trying to run 3 monitors with it, you should know that GeForce cards result in monitor detection problems. You will have to get the ISO version of Windows 10 instead of the technical preview because it supports automatic upgrades and installs.

4- There is another

solution to activate and enable the third monitor. First, you should connect the two monitors that are working just fine. Now connect the third monitor as well and then restart your computer. During the boot process, Windows will detect the monitor and it will install the driver.

5- Some users say that they were able to fix third monitor not detected in Windows 10 issue by using a HDMI to mini-display port adapter for the third monitor. You will have to buy a new HDMI port and connect the third monitor and hopefully, things would work out.

6- The first thing about running

multiple monitors on Windows 10 is to fix the ports problem. Your PC or laptop should have DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort, and VGA ports. If you have only two ports, you won’t be able to run 3 monitors with Windows 10.

7- Another good way to find out if your graphics card is able to run 3 monitors is to go to the Control Panel -> Device Manager -> Display Adapters, and seeing the name of your graphics card. Once you have the name, you should search on Google whether this card supports 3 monitors? For example, if your card is Nvidia GTX 880, search Nvidia GTX 880 three monitors.

8- Some users were able to fix three monitors problem in Windows 10 by reinstalling Windows 10. One user, who had upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10,

downgraded to Windows 8.1 and then reinstalled Windows 10 and three monitors started working fine.  But he created Windows 10 System Image backup the second time in order to revert back to the correct image of Windows 10 in case of a faulty ATI windows update.

9- Go to control Panel and click on “Display”. On the left side, you will see “Display Settings”. Click on it. Go to “Multiple Displays” option and select “Extend Desktop to this display”. You will get to see three options for monitors.
