Now in its third year, New York African Restaurant Week is once again partnering with IBOM LLC (parent company of Innov8tiv) and African Ladies Who  Brunch on June 6, 2015 to bring you the Food & Tech Convo Event.

This event will bring together entrepreneurs, chefs, tech enuthist,  food artisans, analysts, journalists, advocates, Social Media Managers, hackers and makers of all kinds together to network and explore the ongoing conversation of women in technology.  Below are the event speaker and panelist details:

Featured Speaker Dee Poku: Food & Tech Convo Event During New York African Restaurant Week
Dee Poku is a social entrepreneur, marketing consultant and philanthropic strategist.

She is Co-Founder and CEO of the WIE Network, a dynamic conference and community aimed at empowering the next generation of women leaders. The annual WIE Symposium has attracted an incredible lineup of speakers including Donna Karan, Arianna Huffington, Queen Rania, Melinda Gates, Diane von Furstenberg, Nancy Pelosi, Jill Biden, Aerin Lauder, Ted Turner, Lauren Bush, Christy Turlington, Iman and Nora Ephron.

Poku is also the founder of Right Angle, a marketing consultancy that develops innovative campaigns for a cross section of films, non-profits and consumer brands. The company specializes in strategic partnerships, bringing entities – brands, films, non-profits, high profile individuals together whereby all parties benefit from a given campaign. Clients have ranged from Crème de la Mer and Bobbi Brown to Lionsgate Entertainment to the non-profits World Vision and Women for Women Intl.

A former Hollywood studio executive, Poku’s background includes senior marketing roles at Paramount Pictures and Focus Features. She oversaw the release campaigns for the likes of Al Gore’s ‘An Inconvenient Truth’; the Coen brothers’ ‘No Country For Old Men’; Sofia Coppola’s \’Lost in Translation\’, Alejandro González Iñárritu’s ‘Babel’ and Ang Lee’s \’Brokeback Mountain\’.

Other roles include Head of Marketing and Publicity at leading UK film company, Momentum Pictures, handling the campaigns for Michael Moore’s \’Bowling for Columbine\’ and the Coen brothers’ ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ amongst others.

UK born Poku began her career at Lynne Franks, a promotions/PR agency where she worked with some of the world’s largest brands, including Coca Cola, Absolut Vodka and Stella Artois. Poku holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Math. She is a member of the British Academy (BAFTA).

Panelist

Roxanne Dyssell
Roxsanne is the Marketing Director and partner at technology startup Nalla International LLC, a global telecommunications hardware supplier based in New York City.
She is the founder and coordinator of African Ladies who Brunch, a social initiative conceived in 2012 to empower young African diaspora women based in the Tri-State area.

Originally from South Africa, she holds a Bachelors of Science and a Bachelors of Arts (Honors) from the University of Cape Town. Roxsanne received her Masters degree from New York University’s renowned Africana Program.
Most recently she was appointed to the board of Educate South Africa, a nascent nonprofit focused on digital skills development workshops for young South Africans.

A firm believer in frugal innovation and digital ‘leap-frogging’, Roxsanne provides web strategy consultancy and services to Africa-focused startups and nonprofits.

Eka Take
Bio: Eka Take is currently a senior business development professional at HookLogic, a global leader in performance marketing for brands, and one of Google’s largest competitors. In her role, she negotiates paid search advertising partnerships for prime real estate on major retail sites such as Walmart, Bestbuy and Target, in North America. HookLogic also recently expanded to the Europe with ARGOS, ASDA and Boots.
Prior to Hooklogic, Eka worked in market development at Honest Buildings (HB), a New York City-based startup that’s created a web platform to connect professionals in the real estate construction and design space. HB has raised over $10 million in Series A funding and was named the “LinkedIn for Real estate”. With over $25 million in building contracts originated through the HB platform, the company counts industry giants such as Cushman & Wakefield, Vornado and Silverstein Properties as clients.
Eka Take holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. She is a former real estate sales and marketing professional with Douglas Elliman, and The F and T Group (based in New York and Nanjing, China), and has over 10 years of experience in the space.

Aile Momah:
Aile Momoh began her career with Goldman Sachs in 2012 with the Foreign Exchange Trading and Sales Technology team in Salt Lake city, Utah, working mainly on Java projects. She moved to New York within the same team in 2013. She’s currently involved in projects within the client web applications development unit of the team, using languages such as AngularJS, Javascript, and HTML5
Prior to joining Goldman, Aile completed her undergraduate degree in Computer Science from the University of Lethbridge, Canada. She then worked as a business applications analyst with Shell Canada. Afterwards she completed a master’s degree in Information Science and Technology at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Aile is on the Technology Black Network recruitment pillar, and is actively involved in diversity recruitment events for the firm’s Technology division
