For the 1st time in sub-Saharan Africa, Visa Everywhere competition now receiving applications

Visa Everywhere, a competition with $50,000, $25,000 and an additional potential $25,000 funding to promising startup, is for the first time receiving applications from startups from sub-Sahara Africa.

This is the first time the competition is running in sub-Saharan Africa. Other than the monetary prize awards, promising startups stand a chance to get connected to companies in Visa’s network to solve any of the following three challenges:

Merchant Payments: Visa is looking for startups with products/services that leverage on Visa Developer APIs to enable SMEs to accept digital payments in-store safely and securely. Thereby driving the uptake of e-commerce and reduce the burden of carrying cash for the end consumers.

Social Business Payments: Startups that leverages on Visa’s APIs to reach the masses through partner platforms like Facebook and other social networking platforms.

Financial Inclusion: Visa is calling out to startups that design their products with capability for voice, messaging, and artificial intelligence solutions geared at driving financial inclusion, management, and commerce experiences.

Startups interested in participating in the competition have until May 18th to submit their application. The submissions will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
