Francis DUFAY takes the reins of JUMIA in Côte d’Ivoire to lead the growth of e-commerce
Large ambitions for JUMIA Côte d’Ivoire
The e-commerce leader in Africa formalizes the appointment of Francis DUFAY at the head of its subsidiary in Côte d’Ivoire. This announcement follows the appointment of Fatoumata BA with whom Francis DUFAY led JUMIA Côte d’Ivoire since April 2014, to the position of Managing Director at JUMIA Nigeria.
Having arrived in April 2014 as Co-Managing Director, Francis DUFAY will be responsible for driving the expansion of the first e-commerce website in Côte d’Ivoire. The French born who took the reins of the startup in a context of consistent growth intends to consolidate this trend and to position JUMIA as a major player in retail. Best products, best prices and customer satisfaction constitute his leitmotivs.
Francis DUFAY cut his teeth at the consulting firm McKinsey & Company where he remained for four years. Specialist in e-commerce strategy for Europe and sub-Saharan Africa, he joined Africa Internet Group in 2014 within JUMIA Côte d’Ivoire.
Francis DUFAY holds a Master of Science from HEC Paris management school, a Master in Management of Cologne University and, an MBA from the Northwestern University – Kellogg School of Management.
This appointment marks a new phase of growth for JUMIA Côte d’Ivoire emphasized by several key themes: Extension of JUMIA’s presence inside the country with new branches, increasing of online assortments (furniture, appliances, mobile phone brands) offering a new service dedicated to companies and reinforcing relationships with local distributors.

It is the only way JUMIA will gain the confidence of the population and strengthen its position as the leading e-commerce destination in Côte d’Ivoire”, said Francis DUFAY after the official announcement of his appointment.
