Ghana: Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem partners with Government to support Local Startups

Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program

Tech startups and entrepreneurs across the West African country of Ghana should be a happy lot, following the partnership between their government and the Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem. A partnership that established the Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program, which seeks to nurture, empower, and scale local startups and businesses.

The Ghana-Oracle Digital Enterprise Program is reported to have identified 500 Ghanaian startups, which it will incubate. Some of the support tools the startups will be getting include access to the Oracle Cloud technology, workshops, mentors, and resources.

The VP of Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem, Jason Williamson, said the program will support the identified 500 Ghanaians startups through either B2B or B2C connections.

The technology and business ingenuity coming out of Africa are exciting and inspiring. Collaborating with government and President Akufo Addo is an excellent way to provide immediate impact and support for hundreds of innovators across the country of Ghana as we look to expand our commitment to more entrepreneurs and startups in Africa,” – Jason Williamson.

The Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem has gained the reputation of putting its financial and other resources muscle behind and in support of startups, it has selected for incubation. The program runs globally and does not take any equity in the startup companies they are nurturing.

Oracle’s startup program has been invaluable for Snap Tech because they understand our needs and have resources to help scale our technology and grow our business,” said Jenny Griffiths, the Founder, and CEO of Snap Tech, a Britain-based member of the Oracle Global Startup Ecosystem. “They are fantastic group of people truly invested in our company’s growth.”

The President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, added: “We are on a journey toward increasing the application of science, technology, and innovation in the development of our economy, society, and our country…

The startup ecosystem will enhance the growth of our budding technology sector and should spur a wave of innovative ideas from entrepreneurs that will provide solutions to local and global challenges and provide digital jobs for the ever-increasing young population.”
