If you are a startup based in Africa, then Google might be looking for you. The search engine through the Google Launch Accelerator program has launched two major development programs aimed at boosting entrepreneurs and particularly app developers across Africa.
Through the Google Developers Launchpad Africa program, the search engine will mentorship and nurturing app developers with the aim of improving their skills and scale the outreach of their solutions. The Google Accelerator Program will be operating from the recently established Google Launchpad Space in Lagos, the first onsite location for this program by Google outside the United States.
Outstanding African startups stand a chance to walk away with a piece of more than $3 million in equity-free funding. They will also get the opportunity to work in the space for free, have access to Google network of expert advisers and more from the Silicon Valley and the larger African market for the next three years. The startups will also benefit from travel and PR support during their three-month-long program.
Eligibility criteria
The eligible startups must meet the minimum threshold of being a technology startup that is based in the sub-Saharan Africa. Their solution must also target the African marketplace and have already raised some seed funding.
