Google Nexus 9 Vs iPad Mini 3: Detailed Comparison of Specs, Features and Price

Apple and Google are going head to head in the tablet industry. But Apple has recently seen a decline in its tablet sales. As a result, it has rolled out new iPads. Google on the other hand continues to grab the emerging markets with its super-sized tablets with improved software and features. Introduction of tablets has now glamorized the world and all it comes in one hand with much features. Google is now being a rival for Apple Inc. here is a general review of Google’s Nexus 9 and iPad Mini 3.

 

 

 

Design

The 7.95mm thick Nexus 9 is slim and relatively light in weight, and is a good challenge for all other tablets in the market. Its Wi-Fi weighs only 425g and has 436g 4G LTE. The set Nexus 9 comes in 3 colors i.e. Indigo Black, Lunar White and Sand colored backs.

On the other hand, the iPad mini 3 is 7.5mm thick and weighs just 200g, same as iPad 2 weighs. The iPad mini 3 has exactly the same aluminium body construction of its predecessor, perfect with the diamond cut edges. The iPad is available in different colors such as Space Grey, White and now Gold too.

CPU and Performance

Google uses a 64-bit processor for the Nexus 9 the “NVidia Tegra K1” found in the “NVidia Shield Tablet”. It operates at 2.3GHz and has storage capacity i.e. 2GB of RAM.

iPad mini runs on the same Apple A7 processor as the iPhone 5S, iPad mini 2 and original iPad Air. iPad mini is quick and responsive. The A7 processor and iOS 8 both have some major enhancements that come in the form of Metal, which make playing the latest 3D games look and perform much better. Battery

The Nexus 9 provides a backup comprising of 6,700 mAh battery, which is non-removable.

Officially the iPad Mini 3 isn’t revealing its battery backup yet but some people claim it to have a 6,470 mAh battery.

Software

Nexus uses the software version Android 5.0 Lollipop.  The goal is to make lollipop appear in other Google platforms and applications also i.e. Android and Chrome.  Android 5.0 lollipop has also introduced some features in resemblance with iOS 8 such as popping up a notification in the notification area etc. you can respond to an incoming call or test message or opening the screen by simply swiping a finger on the screen.

iOS 8 on the other hand is the latest software updated by Apple in which different features such as satellite tracking, credit card filling using camera and other similar mind blowing features have been introduced.

 

Price and availability

Different prices are available for the Google Nexus 9. 16 GB with Wi-Fi for 399 USD, a 32 GB version with Wi-Fi at 479 USD, and a 32 GB LTE model for 599 USD only.

The iPad mini 3, starts at 399 USD for a 16 GB version with Wi–FI only, and goes to 729 USD for a 128 GB version with LTE.

 

Those looking for a glamour and finish will go for iPad 3 as of its metal gloss, but the Nexus 9 has a plus point of cheaper price tag than the iPad mini 3 with a lot of rich features and flexibility of Android.
