You know, the tech world is currently consumed with news about the iPhone 8 that is launching today. There is also a fairly big amount of noise going around about the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that was officially launched in Seoul, South Korea today. In the midst of all these noises, you may fail to remember that Google is prepping up to launch the next sequel of the Pixel series, the Pixel 2.

As Innov8tiv, we are here to make sure you don’t forget anything about matters flagship devices 2017. That said, let’s delve into the news, rumors, and facts about the upcoming Pixel 2 smartphone.

What makes the Pixels phones unique (well, other than the fact they are Google’s stamp into in the smartphone industry) is the fact that they run the pure stock Android mobile OS. If you didn’t know Pixel, rose up from the graves where Google buried the Nexus line of devices, but it would be fair to say, Nexus fan will recognize some consistency in Google while using the Pixel phones.

Pixel 2 & Pixel XL 2 (Pixel 2017) Specs and Features

Here is what the tech rumor mills are currently churning out about Google’s upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. Apparently, 9to5Google obtained new leaked images of the Pixel 2, and it shades some new light; different from the rumors we covered in the supposed leakage back in July. The following is the new rumors we have about the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.

According to the image, the Pixel 2 is housed in “a slate gray-looking glass window and a dark silver back.” The image itself was blurred, supposedly to protect the source, so you can’t make out much from it. Nonetheless, you can make out the phone will have two small black dots near the flash, and we presume this will be the sensors that will help the camera’s laser do their autofocus function.

It is also being rumored that the base model of the phone will have 64GB of internal storage, while the flagship version will be harboring 128GB. A sharp contrast from the current Pixel phone, which also comes with a 32GB variant.

Apparently, Pixel 2 will also have IP68 certification. Meaning, it will be both water and dust proof, and that rating means the phone can survive a dive of up to 1.5 meters below the water and stay there for at least half an hour and still be good-working conditions.Should this turn out to be true, you wouldn’t worry about your phone accidentally falling into the pool or coffee spilling on it. Not to mention,

Should this turn out to be true, you wouldn’t worry about your phone accidentally falling into the pool or coffee spilling on it. Not to mention, the number of underwater selfies you will be taking inside the pool. For purposes of comparison, you should know that the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus both have the IP68 certification too.

Both the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 will have the Always-On Display; which can only imply Google will opt for the OLED display again for the next Pixel sequel. OLED displays are ideal for the Always-On function given it has the technology to light up certain pixels rather than requiring a backlight to light up the entire display; like what LDC displays do.

Using OLED displays for the Always-On screen will consume less battery juice as it shows you the time, date and other visual elements continuously. Google is also said to be taking the Apple route, of ditching the headphone jack. Looking at how much backlash Apple had with doing away with the jack, Google is said to be already engaging the damage control gear on that front.

Maybe Google will release the Pixel 2 bundled together with the AI-powered wireless headphones to appease all the audio jack fans. Remember, all these are nothing more than just rumors, expect us to separate the facts from rumors as we near the release date of the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2.
