Yesterday, Google flexed its hardware muscle yet again. It would be fair to say; the world was impressed with the Google’s 2017 flagship devices. The Pixel 2, the Pixel 2 XL, and the 2-in-1 Pixelbook.

Let us start off with this laptop/tablet hybrid, the Pixelbook, the long-overdue successor of the Chromebook Pixels. To get your hands on this device, you will part with at least $999 for the base model. It also comes with an optional Pixelbook pen for $99.

Android apps on the ChromeOS-powered Pixelbook

These days, Android apps run on the desktop Chrome OS platform. With Google’s 2-in-1 Pixelbook, you are going to enjoy using Android apps on the desktop like never before.

To make the Pixel Pen, Google partnered with Wacom and has even integrated an Assistant to the pen. The stylus pen comes with 10 milliseconds latency, 60-degrees angular awareness, and over 2,000 pressure sensitivity levels.

The laptop/tablet is 10mm thick and weighs in at about 1kgs. Although the 12.3” QHD LCD display might be small for some people, it makes for the ideal portable device. Did we say the Pixelbook comes with built-in Digital Assistant?

Well, you can talk to the device via voice commands and have some tasks taken care for you hands-free. However, for the occasions that you would not want to use voice commands, (no one wants to be at a coffee shop or the library and talk to their computer, you can use the dedicated Assistant key on the keyboard.

The stylus pen also triggers the Digital Assistant allowing you to execute actions by simply pointing at the things you see on your screen.

Smart Tether

For the occasions when you will be away from your Wi-Fi network, the Pixel can automatically connect to your Pixel phone and access the internet through its mobile data. Before you do this, make sure you are using an unlimited mobile data plan, or you have enough to sustain the laptop’s needs and save some for your mobile later on.
