Half Of Nigerians To Benefit From 3G Network By The End Of This Year

Nigeria Ministry of ICT has made public its intentions to connect half of Nigerians with 3G network by the end of 2015. The initiative will be conducted through the ‘Wireless Broadband Infrastructure Upgrade and Expansion Phase 1’, which is part of the Nigeria National Broadband Plan 2013-2018.

The President, Goodluck Jonathan, initiated the National Broadband Plan 2013-2018 in the Q2 of 2013. The Executive Vice Chairman of Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Ernest Ndukwe said that the network will be powered by ubiquitous broadband facilities, at the same time they want to ensure that all new mobile site will be LTE-compatible.

This might be perhaps unrelated, but the revamped attention this project is being given right now, considering that Nigeria is to conduct the general election this year. Maybe this could be the President Goodluck Jonathan trying to remind Nigerians why they should give him another term in office.
