Here Are The Six Winners Of The MTN Business App Challenge 2015

The fourth annual MTN Business App of the Year announced the winners of the 2015 challenge at an award held in Jo-burg, South Africa. The competition seeks to highlight innovative and customized apps that will drive customer experience to the next higher level. The 2015 winners are as follows:

WumDrop – The app won the Best Enterprise category and overall winner. It is a courier and fleet management app that enables users to pick up or deliver anything, anywhere and anytime in real-time. The app is already available to business clients and can readily be incorporated into their e-commerce services. The brains behind the app are Benjamin Claasen and Muneeb Samuels.

DStv Now – This app won the Best Consumer App category. The app touts itself as the home of DStv on the go. It enables users to get the best of entertainment and sports highlights by either downloading or streaming using the DStv Catch up whenever it suits them. The app is exclusively available to DStv Premium customers with active PVR for free.

Vula Mobile – Winner of the Most Innovative App 2015. The app connects general healthcare workers directly to specialists. The professionals can make referrals, undertake diagnostic tests, and give advice all suing the mobile app. The app is said to reduce inefficiencies, conduct more accurate diagnosis and allow for better referrals.

CPUT Mobile – Winner of the Best Enterprise Development App 2015. Cape Peninsula University of Technology app can provide those involved with the institution information regarding course announcements, examination results, prospectus, Internet balance, download documents for paperless meeting, tracking of application status among others.

M4JAM – Winner of the Best Wild Card App 2015. This app is an ‘app within an app,’ working as a Platform as a Service (PAAS) and operating as an Official Account on mobile social communication platform, WeChat. The app breaks down big projects into small tasks that are easy to complete for the ordinary person as they go about with their daily routines.

EskomSePush – Winner of the Best Breakthrough Developer App 2015. Developed by Herman Maritz and Dan Wells.

The inaugural MTN Business App of the Year Awards took place in 2012. Over the years, it has grown to be the premiere app award event in South Africa. The competition refines the products offering and promotes delivery of bold new digital possibilities for the end users.

The award also creates an enabling environment for the South African developers and gives them the platform to compete against other global counterparts. The competition has been contributed to some apps making it to the international and local most popularly downloaded apps charts.
