Here’s what we know about the iPhone 7: Release Date, Price, and Rumored Features

The Cupertino Company will this week hold yet another one of its annual event in San Francisco. In keeping with tradition, it is during these events that Apple unveils it next generation devices of the like of new iPhones, iPads, MacBook, and Apple Watch.

The iPhone 7

Next week, it is highly anticipated Apple will launch the next generation of iPhones. The iPhone 7 is being said to be aesthetically identical to the current version of iPhone 6s and 6s Plus but with some major differences such as a pressure-sensitive home button, improved camera, and battery life. Well, it also has no headphone jack.

Because it is aesthetically similar to the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. Analysts are saying that Apple should save the iPhone 7 name for the subsequent iPhone to be released. This upcoming one should instead be called something like the iPhone 6SE since it

has smaller iterative changes from the current iPhone 6S/6S Plus. The naming suggestions are in line with the naming of the iPhone SE launched in March 2016. The phones was just an upgraded version of iPhone 5S.

There were rumors that Apple is bringing back the all-glass chassis for the iPhone, but this will not be the case for the iPhone 7. Perhaps Apple will save that up for the next generation of iPhones to be launched next year. There were also rumors of an edge-to-edge display with an OLED Display, a step away from the current LCD Displays currently being used by Apple.

There are also rumors suggesting the upcoming iPhone 7 will come in two 5.5-inch variants. One of which will have a dual-lens camera and will be called iPhone Pro.

iPhone 7 expected features

The most noteworthy feature being said to come with the iPhone 7 is an upgraded camera, pressure-sensitive home button and the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack. The bigger version, ‘iPhone 7 Plus’ is said will have an even more powerful dual lens camera. The 7 Plus could also have a smart connector that will allow users attach a keyboard to it.

What will replace the headphone jack?

With the rumors that the iPhone 7 will not have the 3.5mm headphone jack, so how will users listen to their music or make phone calls if they don’t want to use the phone’s speakers? There are rumors that the iPhone 7 will ship with a pair of Lighting EarPods or the wireless ‘AirPod’ headphones that have Bluetooth or other types of wireless connectivity.

This move is likely to face opposition from the users, as extra wireless connectivity means faster battery drains and just more iPhone peripherals to

recharge over and over. Just like the opposition the company faced when it introduced lightning connector with its iPhone 5 released in 2012. To counter this, Apple is said will release an adapter that will allow for wired headphone use as an alternative to the wireless one.

About its Upgraded Camera

From the mock pictures of the iPhone 7 doing rounds on the internet, the camera is going to be bigger in appearance. That could also possibly mean it will have better performance under low-light conditions and perhaps capability to take sharper pictures.

The 5.5 variant of the iPhone may also come with the dual-lens camera. Something that will go a long way in making high-quality images, given the second lens will give you a better zoom-in feature that will allow you see tiny details in a picture.

No Home Button, instead a Pressure-sensitive Home Button

Apple could replace the traditional physical home button with a pressure-sensitive home button in the iPhone 7. The button will work in ways much similar to the 3D Touch display found in iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

It will not be the usual physical press home button synonymous with iPhones; instead, it will be a new haptic feedback button. Giving room for the iPhone actual display to be bigger in size.

Larger Battery Capacity

iPhone 7 is also being said to have a larger battery capacity, larger than any of its predecessors. There are also rumors that indicate the phone will also have the fast charging technology. Based on the iOS 10, which will come with the iPhone 7 out of the box, this phone could have some level of water resistance.

The truths, half-truths, and falsehood of all the above predictions and rumors will be put to rest this September 7th, 2016. During Apple’s event in San Francisco.
