Parenting is no easy task. It is perhaps the most difficult yet meaningful and oddly satisfying a project in one’s life. Reproducing beings and then refining them all along those hard early and late years need perseverance, constant attention, energy, love and most importantly, love. Norine Dworkin-McDaniel from the Science of Parenthood was sitting with her son, who was explaining to her Newton’s first law of motion which he’d learnt in the class for the first time. Every object, the kid elaborated excitedly, remains at rest until acted upon by an external force. Norine’s mind automatically struck a resembling situation: his son playing video games. He definitely doesn’t move until not moved forcefully.
Norine quickly picked up a pen and scribbled down the “First Law of Parenting”.
“Newton’s First Law of Parenting: A child at rest will remain at rest … until you need your iPad back.”
And thus started the ideas coming to Norine’s mind, one after another. She started crafting new “laws” based on the realities of parenting. She used the help of her friend to give these laws the form of hilarious photos. These comics resonate perfectly with the daily lives of parents around the world. Daily difficulties like bad night’s sleep, no privacy, baby fluids, changing diapers, constant noise and siblings’ fights are definitely daunting tasks apparently, but they leave an everlasting and laughable impressions on the memories of parents for years to come.
