Amazon’s voice assistant Alexa is a great device for getting things down hands-free. From ordering a take out, checking your email, the weather, and calling your friends among others.

However for most people, Alexa is only limited to the Echo speakers, but few know you can actually have it on your computer. Be it a Mac or PC computer.

Using Alexa on Windows PC

Here is a shocker, if you are running Windows 10 on your PC, you can simply download Alexa to your computer.

After installing the Alexa app on your Windows 10 PC, you will be able to talk – shout commands – to the voice assistant. Though for security reasons, most people prefer having to click a button to activate the digital assistant to take down orders.

Go to Microsoft Store > search for Alexa > press on the Install button and when it is all done. You can Launch the app.

You will need to sign into your Amazon account for a wholistic experience. If you don’t have an Amazon account, you will have to create one.

You can use the Alexa app by first launching it, the clicking on the Alexa icon to start speaking to it.

There are a handful of PCs that support hand-free use of Alexa; those that allow you to simply say ‘Alexa’ to command the voice assistant. They include:

Dell Inspiron 2-in-1

HP Envy

Acer Spin 3

Acer Spin 5

Acer Nitro 5 Spin

Acer Aspire 5

HP Pavilion Wave

Using Alexa on a Mac computer

Only Windows 10 computers can download and install Alexa to run natively. The rest like macOS computers can only use the Amazon voice assistant via the web browser.

If you are using a Mac computer, then again any other operating system and mobile devices – go to alexa.amazon.com. Sign into your Amazon account, and voila, you can bark all the commands you will at Alexa.
