How to block specific apps in iPhone

 

You can use parental controls or restrictions by disabling some of the iPhone apps and selecting an allowed age rating apps, to allow your kids to use apps and features that you want them to use and block those you want them to be away from. In iOS 12, there is also an additional feature of ‘Screen Time’ for specific apps that you’d rather your kids not spend all day on.

Here’s how you can block specific apps on iPhone and iPad:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ from your homepage.

 

  1. Scroll down and tap on ‘General’.

 

  1. Scroll down and tap on ‘Restrictions’. This will open the menu for Restrictions. If restrictions are already turned on, then you will have to enter Passcode for Restrictions (different from Security code).

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Tap on ‘Enable Restrictions’ at the top. It will prompt you to create a new 4-digit Restrictions Passcode.

 

 

  1. Create a new Restrictions Passcode. Whenever you enter Restrictions menu, you have to enter the Restrictions Passcode.

It will ask you to confirm you Passcode again by re-entering it.

 

 

  1. Locate the ‘ALLOW’ heading at the top of Restrictions menu. This will show you all the stock apps that you can block on iPhone or iPad.

Slide the green switch to Off in order to block a stock app that you want. You can disable some services like Installing Apps and In-App purchases.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  1. Scroll down and under the allowed content heading, tap on ‘Apps’. This will show all the age ratings that are used in the App Store.

 

 

  1. Select an age rating that you want to allow for all the apps. Any apps that are already installed and are above the selected rating will be deleted and you won’t be able to install any new apps above that rating. You have several options here that include: ‘Don’t Allow Apps’,’4+’,’9+’,’12+’,’17+’, and ‘Allow All Apps’. Once you select ‘Don’t Allow Apps’ then all of your installed apps will be deleted, and you won’t be able to install any new apps at all.

 

 

 

  1. Now on the top-left, tap the back button of ‘Restrictions’. It will save all new settings and take you back to the Restrictions menu.
