How to Fix Error 4013 on the iPhone

Have you ever been updating your iPhone and get an error 4013? The message will typically be “The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (4013).”

Error 4013 occurs on the iPhone/iPad and usually happens either when you are updating the device or restoring it. Now, it is important that you don’t freak out when you get this message. Error 4013 is not a big problem and can easily be fixed. Software issues or connectivity problems between the iPhone and the computer usually cause it. Here is how to fix it.

Update your iTunes

The error 4013 will often be caused by incompatibility issues between your phone and the macOS or iTunes on Windows. Thus, check your computer’s iTunes when you see this error to see if it’s up to date. To update the iTunes, open it on the computer. Then from the menu bar at the top of the iTunes bar, click Help> Check for Updates. Then follow the prompts to get the latest version.

Force start your iPhone

Error 4013 could also be caused by a software glitch or some hardware malfunction, and thus, a simple force restart will help.

To force restart your iPhone 8 and later models with no home button, press then release the volume up button, then press and release the volume down button, then press and hold the power button until the phone goes off and reboots.

On older iPhones that have a home button, press and hold the home button and the power button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.

For iPhone 7, press and hold the volume up and power button until you see the Apple logo.

Change the USB cable

Sometimes, error 4013 could be caused by a faulty connection between the device and the computer. So, if you get the error message, try changing the USB cables and see if your problem is solved.

Error 4013 is a very fixable error and thus, never freak out whenever you get it. Simply follow the above steps and many more, and you will easily fix the issue.
