How to get back the old Chrome design; because you don’t like the new look Google gave it

google chrome

Yesterday, we all woke up to our favorite browser having a somewhat rounded design, new icons, and a new color palette alongside other performance changes. While some might like the new design as it breaks the eye sore monotony of same-old-same-old. Not everyone would be pleased, not to call them conservatist, but there are people out there who the old Chrome design works better than the new one.

If you are one such user and would like the old Chrome design back. Then read ahead for the tip on how to get back the old design.

It is currently possible to change back to the old user interface. All thanks to an experimental flag Google has still made available. Now, the thing with experimental flags is that Google can pull out their plug anytime, without any prior warning. It is also unclear for just how long Google will avail this experimental flag.

Be that as it may, if you want the old design, here is what you need to do:

Launch the Chrome browser and in the address bar type in chrome://flags/#top-chrome-md and hit the Enter button. The flag will still be available if the page that loads up contains the experimental UI Layout of the browser’s top chrome.

Next, you need to activate the menu next to the flag. Set it to Normal.

Now restart your browser

FYI, you can choose between various UI Layouts; hybrid and touchable for example. You can keep changing them until you get the one that works best for you. Whatever you choose, enjoy it while it last as Google might pull the flag on any of them, at any time, with no prior warning.

Then you will be left with no option but get used to the new design. Then again, this is not the first time Google is doing material design to the Chrome browser, or any of its other programs and apps. If you have all along learned to get used to the changes, this time will not be any different!
